AS LONG AS THE RIVERS FLOW

Published in 2002 by Goundwood Books, a division of House of Anansi Press, As Long as the Rivers Flow is a sensitive autobiographical account of the authors last summer at home in a traditional Cree family, before the impact of residential school tore them apart.
As an illustrator, Heather worked with the authors to recreate a visual identity of each of the stories characters, while maintaining a balance of design and narrative. As Long as the Rivers Flow has been the recipient of many national awards, including the coveted Norma Fleck 2003 Award for Canadian non-fiction of which Heather was the first illustrator to share; the 2006 Honour Book, First Nation Communities Read Award; and Finalist 2006 Golden Oak and Rocky Mountain Book awards.
